Run Reigate Running Club Feedback

Some of our Run Club runners – training for the Intersport Run Reigate Half Marathon, 10k or 5k race – have shared why Run Reigate is their race of choice, along with the impact that the club sessions have had on their training and mindset.

Froydis Gording

Q1. What made you decide to enter Run Reigate?

This will be my third time running Run Reigate. I ran the Half-Marathon in 2015, and the 10k in 2017. So I entered the 10k again his year, based on my enjoyment of previous years. It’s a fantastically well-organised race with a great route, with bonus points of it being so local and therefore low stress on race morning.

Q2. How has the Run Reigate Run Club helped your training for the event?

I had some time off running, and was finding it hard to motivate myself, so the run club has been great. It is a guaranteed session that gets some good training in, and also forces me to do the drills I normally skip when I’m on my own. I really enjoy how each weeks builds on the previous one, as I can feel myself improving with each week. The start of the sessions also spurred me into starting to train for the race. I’m really glad the sessions are being offered!

Q3. Would you recommend Run Reigate to your friends and family?

100%, and I frequently do!

Q4. Apart from finishing the race, what are you most looking forward to on the day of the event?

I’m looking forward to taking on the route, feeling the support both on route and at the event village, and hopefully the good weather! I’ve heard rumours the event village will be bigger and better than ever, so can’t wait to explore it!

Q5. Do you have any other comments about Run Reigate or the Run Club?

I’ll be sad once the Run Club is over, but I’ve enjoyed it so much it has actually spurred me on to look into other run clubs in the area, so for that I am thankful. And I’ll see you again next year! 🙂

Q1. What made you decide to enter Run Reigate?

I have been one of the volunteer marshals since the first race, and every year I’ve come back to help. I see and encourage the racers, and towards the end of last year decided to enter and join in the race itself. Also, this year I decided I needed to do something about my weight, and lost a massive 20 kgs, and then also started running as a way to maintain my new body and give it a breath of fresh air.

Q2 How has the Run Reigate Run Club helped your training for the event?

The Run Club has given me the confidence to run with people, as I was extremely shy of what my body looked liked. I knew about running, but not about the running drills, the warmups and the cool-downs. The Run Club taught me all that, and I felt safe in running with friendly non-judgmental people.

Q3. Would you recommend Run Reigate to your friends and family?

Yes I would definitely recommend Run Reigate, in fact my son is running the 10km race, and this is his first race ever. I also always mention the race to friends and colleagues in the hope that they join.

Q4. Apart from finishing the race, what are you most looking forward to on the day of the event?

To be quite honest, I am most looking forward to completing this race. This would be a huge milestone for me, and would encourage me to continue with my health regime. I will be so hyped-up at finishing, that I guess it would be difficult for me to just lay down and rest. However, I guess I’ll be looking for the application form for the run next year! Besides that, I’m also looking forward to the satisfaction of completing the 21 kms.

Q5. Do you have any other comments about Run Reigate or the Run Club?

The Run Reigate Team are a fantastic bunch. As mentioned, I met them 4 years ago, and enjoyed being part of the team for the day. I loved the fact that we were able to help and also cheer and encourage the runners as they ran past. I also enjoyed cheering them as they ran over the end-mark and handed them their well deserved bananas and water. The Run Club have also been great and the coaches very friendly and encouraging. I have learnt a lot from them. Thank you Run Reigate for your awesome organisation and arranging the Run Club. And yes, I will definitely be back in 2019, as a runner and as a volunteer!

Q1. What made you decide to enter Run Reigate?

After having my second child I saw myself getting more and more unfit, so booking a race was the only way, I found, to keep me from finding excuses not to do any exercise.

Q2. How has the Run Reigate Run Club helped your training for the event?

It helped me doing other kinds of exercise apart from running and pushing me a little bit more every week.

Q3. Would you recommend Run Reigate to your friends and family?

For sure! Anyone that is thinking of start running this would be a perfect event to join, it suits all runners from the beginners to more experienced ones.

Q4. Apart from finishing the race, what are you most looking forward to on the day of the event?

A BBQ afterwards hahahaha. To be honest after all the hard work to receive a medal and see my kids and husband at the finishing line is super emotional and rewarding.

Q5. Do you have any other comments about Run Reigate or the Run Club?

I wished it could be all year around. This summer has been lovely so it helps to end Tuesdays at the park burning some calories. The instructors have been lovely, motivating and looking after all the participants.

Q1. What made you decide to enter Run Reigate?

I have run the Run Reigate Half Marathon since the first one and the event has got bigger and better every year with more runners and more events. The atmosphere during the run is fantastic, I’m always surprised how many people come out along the route to watch, support and cheer all the runners, even handing out sweets to runners along the way.

Q2. How has the Run Reigate Run Club helped your training for the event?

The Run Reigate Run Club has introduced me to different training sessions including thinking about my running form, speed training and hill sessions. This has helped my training this year by seeing improvement in my longer runs leading up to the event. This will hopefully put me in great shape for the day.

Q3. Would you recommend Run Reigate to your friends and family?

I have recommended Run Reigate to my friends and family.

Q4. Apart from finishing the race, what are you most looking forward to on the day of the event?

As well completing the event, I’m looking forward to the atmosphere during the run and at the event village where there is loads to do with the family.

Q5. Do you have any other comments about Run Reigate or the Run Club?

The Run Club has really helped me with my training and thinking about different sessions to include within my training regime, hopefully you’ll think about doing this again next year or in the lead up to Run Gatwick.

Q1. What made you decide to enter Run Reigate?

I ran Run Reigate last year & enjoyed it. I only ‘learnt’ to run last year with a few fellow mums & enjoyed the camaraderie of training & having an event to aim towards was ideal to keep me motivated. I thought that by entering for Run Reigate 2018 pretty much straight after the 2017 event would keep me running!!

Q2 How has the Run Reigate Run Club helped your training for the event?

It has been my only training for the last month!!! 😞 It has been good to do the interval training, which is different for me than just running although I have had a few aches & pains in the days following the Tuesday night training!!

Q3. Would you recommend Run Reigate to your friends and family?

Yes definitely. Its a great day, well organised with a good vibe ( & plenty of toilets!!). Running with Dame Kelly was also something to remember.

Q4. Apart from finishing the race, what are you most looking forward to on the day of the event?

Watching the kids do their races, the R & R tent, which I have been fortunate enough to win complementary tickets for & of course, the pub afterwards with my fellow team mates! I enjoy the ‘team’ element & it was nice to be part of the Stripey Stork team last year.

Q5. Do you have any other comments about Run Reigate or the Run Club?

No, I just need to get some training in!!!
